Christmas Day

After opening presents at our house on Christmas morning, we went to my parent's house to give Grandma and Grandpa there presents. Ellie and Ryker still had some left to open as well.

This present was not...I repeat...NOT fun to make! It was actually very stressful in our household. I got a brainy idea of making a handprint for each month of the year. Thinking it sounded cute! Well I decided to make one for each grandma, each great-grandma and of course myself. That mean't 10 handprints (5 of Ellie and 5 of Ryker) for 12 months. I would not advise anyone to make 120 handprints in two months (especially with a 7 month old). WHAT WAS I THINKING?!?! I decided to buy a 5x7 photo album to put them in order January through December and also got frames to display that specific month. They turned out absolutely adorable! Now that I'm finished...it was well worth it!

We only stayed at my parents for a short time and headed over to Bill and Patti's house where we decided we were going to stay until bedtime. I don't want to drag the kids all over on Christmas when it's suppose to be an enjoyable day so we camped out. We wanted to get all of the grandkids in a picture with Uncle Donald.

Well I promise...we really did try!

We got the girls laid down and turned on a movie...hoping they would ALL fall asleep. Of course mine was the only big girl to take a nap and she was a total crab when it came time to open gifts. UGH!

Christmas Morning

This Christmas was extra special because we had Daddy home with us in the morning! Last year we had to hide out in the bedroom until Daddy got off work. Brad, Ellie and I got up pretty early while Ryker slept in a little longer. We let him sleep and gave our full attention to Ellie! :)

Ellie got a dog academy, horse corral and stable, mini dog sandbox, alphabet game, caboodle with make-up, parachute, robe and slippers and a Little Pet Shop. I also made her a tie blanket that I absolutely love and Brad helped me make two small ones for her dogs. Ryker got a train, Three Little Pig play set, Sippy Cups, Football and a dog.

After we left, the kids and I headed back to my mom's house to spend the night. The plan was to get up at 5:00 am for black friday shopping (something my family has always loved). Patti watched Ellie and Ryker at 6:00 and my mom and I were planning on going out. Once my mom woke up she felt very dizzy and decided it would be best to stay home. I ended up venturing out by myself and getting some Christmas shopping done. This was the first year that stores opened the night before at 10 pm. Once I got out to the west side, I didn't stand in any long lines and most sales went on until 1 pm. It was very enjoyable!

All seven years that I've taught kindergarten, we've always made a gingerbread house. Our gingerbread theme is definitely a favorite of mine. Ellie loves listening and retelling the story of the Gingerbread Man too. Out of all the candy she could enjoy eating, she eats the pretzels.

Of course her dogs were watching and wanted to taste some yummy candy.

Reindeer Food

My students at school made reindeer food at our winter party so I brought the leftovers home and Ellie and I made Reindeer food together. After naps we went outside and sprinkled it on the lawn.

Combine Oats, Sugar and Red Sprinkles and you've got...REINDEER FOOD!

It worked out best to have the kids open most of their presents at my parents' house on Christmas Eve morning. This way Christmas wouldn't be so rushed and we could actually take time to enjoy it. Dustin, Missy, Addalyn and Ayken met us a little after nine. Ellie and Addie started opening presents and the boys just played...showing little to no interest in theirs. Ryker cared more about climbing on the boxes than he did trying to open them.

My camera and video camera are ALWAYS within reaching distance! I absolutely love taking pictures and love organizing them into albums. I have over 17 albums for Ellie and only 1 for poor Ryker. It was much easier to organize when I only had one child. Since time is definitely an issue and pictures get pretty expensive (especially when I think I have to order the same picture with 7 slightly different poses), I decided to stop printing out pictures and try my best to add ALL the pictures that I take onto this blog. That way I won't have a million photo albums and I can create blog books (much more meaningful and a lot smaller to store). These pictures are totally random and taken because my camera's always in reach.

I'm not quite sure what Ryker was doing, but somehow he got stuck. He was smart enough not to let go because he knew he would fall backwards, but he couldn't get himself to an upright position. Meanwhile, he started crying. Instead of running to his rescue, I quickly grab the camera and snap a picture before helping that poor baby. It was quite funny!

Patti made dinner on Friday night for Phil and Stephanie since they wouldn't be able to come on Christmas Day. Before dinner, the girls had a great time wrestling with their Daddy and Uncle Brad.

A Surprise Visit!

Santa Claus made a special visit to Grandma and Grandpa Tweryon's house on Friday, December 23rd. You should have seen the girls' faces. Ellie ran over to me with a petrified look on her face.

Hadley got to go first since she was the oldest. I'm pretty sure the other girls didn't mind! :) Hadley told Santa that she wanted him to bring her a doll.

Brooke and Kami didn't want anything to do with sitting on Santa's lap. Brian took them over together. Brooke said she wanted a doll and Kami said she also wanted a doll.

Ellie didn't want to go anywhere near Santa, but I promised her she could sit on my lap.

When Santa asked Ellie what she wanted for Christmas, she said.....a doll??? WHAT? She NEVER plays with dolls at home. We all laughed! You could tell that she was scared and feeling very uncomfortable. Santa gave each child a special gift. Ellie got a bag of ring pops and Ryker got a beanie dog. THANKS SANTA!

Yes...the blogs aren't exactly in order. Oh well! These were the only Thanksgiving pictures I took for some reason. I thank God every single day for my amazing children and husband! There is NO GREATER FEELING than being a Mommy! I love you Ellie, Ryker and Brad! We are all so blessed to have amazing parents, grandparents and friends! Thanks for ALL you do! You are GREATLY appreciated!

The kids and I started Thanksgiving at my mom and dad's house in the morning. Brad had to work Thankgiving night so he needed to sleep a little later to get back on his night schedule. After lunch, Brad came and picked up Ryker to take him to his mom and dad's house. Ellie wanted to play with Addie for a little longer. We then went to Patti and Bill's for some delicious ravioli. Brad's grandma always cooks homemade ravioli for Thanksgiving and Christmas. She goes through a lot of work to prepare them, but they are definitely worth it. Thanks Granny! Brian fried a scrumptious turkey, Kathy made her homemade rolls and Patti does the rest...salad, potatoes, dessert etc. We are so thankful to be within 5 miles of each our parents. I pray that Ryker and Ellie never move away when they grow-up. My mom always told me it wasn't an option. Her exact quote, "I didn't raise you for you to grow-up and move away from me." I feel the exact same way! Being parents are the best job and the hardest job anyone will ever have. It is the most amazing feeling in the world!

Krone's Tree Farm 2011

Picking out a Christmas tree has always been an exciting day for me. Christmas is my all time favorite holiday and now that I have children it's even more exciting. Brad and I agreed that we would try to quickly pick out a tree this year because it was freezing outside and we had our 7 month old son with us. The tree farm is split up into 3 sections. There's two sections (one small and one big) split by the driveway and one back section behind the house. We started off in the section behind the house since that's where we found our tree last year. There was a tree we both spotted, but we wanted to keep looking a little longer. We made a trip to the second section to glance and look at their horse (Who by the way...hates the flash of my camera. I thought he was going to charge through the electric fence at me and Ellie.) We didn't see anything great so we decided to head to the truck and tell the workers that we were going to take the first tree we saw. The children were loaded in and the workers jumped on their four-wheeler and met us. Before we started looking we agreed on a 35 dollar tree. It would be ridiculous to pay 70 dollars for a real tree. They measured the tree and told us what we didn't want to hear...you do know it's a seventy dollar tree...right? Ummm NO! We knew we weren't willing to pay that much so...we unloaded the children and started over. UGH! Remember...it's freezing outside! THIS IS SUPPOSE TO BE FUN! We took out Ryker's stroller AGAIN and hiked down the mile (at least it felt like one) tree farm in search of the perfect tree. Ellie refused to walk yet wouldn't ride in the stroller and Ryker was an angel yet his stroller was extremely hard to push. We walked all the way down, in and out of what seemed like EVERY tree! Losing patience! :) THIS IS SUPPOSE TO BE FUN! We ventured back over by the horse and the small section. Why???? I guess we thought something new was going to pop out! NOTHING! Lastly, we went back behind their house AGAIN for the third time. Over an hour later, we decided to settle. THIS WAS SUPPOSE TO BE FUN! It looks like a fun and exciting time in the movies! :)

Hunting 2011

Brad took this deer on Saturday afternoon of the 1st shotgun season. He had been in his stand for only a couple of minutes when this buck walked in front of him. He laid down his gun and was fixing his socks when this monster of a buck walked up. Bill and Brian had not even made it to their stands when Brad shot.

Brad and Bill took Ellie with them to the taxidermist to have the deer head mounted. REWIND...prior to this Ellie had been complaining of her leg hurting. She seriously woke up and would not put any pressure on it. We were at Heather and Brian's house the night before and she said Brookie twisted it. The funny thing...when we got home that night, she didn't complain once until the morning. The girl would seriously cry if we made her stand or try to walk. She never changed her story and never switched legs. We even tried bribing her with gum and pez, but there was no fooling her. FAST FORWARD...so they get to this place and Ellie still won't walk. She loved looking at the fish in the tank and of course had to check out the bathrooms. Once they came home, she still wouldn't even set her leg down. Nancy called and said another little girl did the same thing with her foot earlier in the week. Then she broke out with a rash everywhere. I was a little nervous that Ellie might be getting this same thing. Not one time did she walk for the entire day. The next morning, she yelled for me to come get her. Instead of carrying her, I quickly put her down to walk (thinking she would have forgotten about her leg). She stood up and walked to the living room while saying, "Mommy, my leg's all better!" Little Stinker!!!

Pajama Picture Tradition 2011

It all started the year Addie and Ellie were born in 2008. My mom bought the girls matching outfits and wanted them to get their pictures taken on Santa's lap. For two years in a row, the girls sat on Santa's lap together. In addition to the Santa pictures, my mom bought them pajamas last year and wanted to get their pictures taken in front of the Christmas tree. One year and two kids later, it became a tradition. My mom bought the girls and the boys matching pajamas this year and we took another traditional picture.

Ellie is such the little mother to Ryker. The other day Ryker was doing something that he shouldn't have been and Ellie put her hands on her hips and said, "SERIOUSLY, Buddy?!?!" He also hears this a lot..."What are we going to do with you?" "REALLY, buddy?!?!" "NO! NO!"

Ryker is ALL OVER THE PLACE! HOLY COW! In his one month of crawling he has been into more things than his 3 year old sister. The new question around our house...Where's Ryker? You take your eye off of him for one second and he's off. He loves throwing things, especially his sister toys, and pulls himself up onto anything he can get his hands on. We joke about him being godzilla. He destroys everything in his path. When we all go in Ellie's room to play, he plows everything over! Ellie always says, "Here comes the giant!"

Ryker also has a chair like Ellie's purple one above except his is smaller. Last time I had it in the living room, I left him for a second and come back to him standing on it. We also have a foam block that's about 5 or 6 inches tall. I've caught him twice sitting on top of it. He's our crazy monkey!

I really can't imagine bathing any more than two kids each night. Especially through the week when I work. It's usually a chore to get Ellie in the bathtub, but once she's in she never wants to get out. I always wash Ryker first and get him out. I either hand him off to Brad or put him in his car. If I have to run out of the bathroom, I always make Ellie sing her ABC's LOUDLY so I can hear her the entire time. I wash her and then give her time to play. Ellie's getting so big and wanting to bath herself. How is this possible?!?!

We had all our friends over for the World Series. Lets just say between our friends we have a lot of kids. The scary thing is...they weren't all here and it was still crazy! Poor Ryker was SCREAMING for an hour because he was so tired and couldn't fall asleep. Finally, I asked all the kids to go downstairs to get Ryker asleep. I'm sure the guys were thrilled!

Aunt Kathy's niece (from Rochester) owns horses and asked if there was any way she would let the kids come out and see them. Little did we know what she had in store for the girls. Lori let the girls feed the horse, brush the horse and even ride the horse. I seriously felt like we were on a field trip...YET BETTER!

Lori even took us on a tour. She not only rides horses, but she also gives lessons and takes care of other horses that are housed at her place. They have trails in her back yard along with several corrals. I can't imagine the work that goes in to caring for these amazing animals. Thank you so much Lori! We truly appreciated your kindness! The girls had an amazing time!

Preschool Picnic

Daddy took Ellie to her Preschool Picnic. It was a way for the students and parents to get to know one another a little better at the beginning of the school year. I'm so sad that I have to miss these special events. I just keep telling myself how lucky I am to have a long winter break, spring break and ALL summer off with my amazing children. In the end...I wouldn't change that for the world!

Ellie was busy taking pictures while my Dad and I finished carving.

Brad and I took the kids to Lincoln Memorial Gardens to try to get a few good pictures of them in their Halloween costumes. I thought it would be cute in the fall leaves and also less stress on Halloween since I would already have some pictures.

Happy Fall!

Last year, Heather and I decided that we would have a kid's fall party at Patti and Bill's house instead of fighting the crowd and seeing the lighted pumpkins. We had activities, fun music, glow-sticks, hay rides, carved pumpkins, a fire, food and most importantly friends and family. All the kids seemed to have a blast. This will definitely be a tradition with the Tweryon family and friends.

Papa Bill put haybales in his truck and on the trailer for the perfect hayrack ride. Each person coming to the party was asked to bring a carved pumpkin. Brian, Bill and Brad scattered the pumpkins throughout the backyard so everyone could enjoy them on the hay ride. We even had scary music playing in the truck. The very last ride...Clark, Heather (with a sheet over her head) and I (with a talking bat) hid and jumped out as the truck went by.

Coach Jamie invited all the soccer players and their families to her house for a cookout as an end of the season celebration. We already had planned our fall party at Patti and Bill's so we weren't able to stay long.

Preschool Open House 2011

Pumpkin Festival 2011

Two weeks after our trip from the Apple Orchard, we ventured back to Broom's for their Pumpkin Festival. Patti rode with me and the kids. Missy and the kids went with my mom and dad. Heather, Brian and the girls also met us there. All the kids seemed to have their own agenda as to what they wanted to do first.

Of course Ellie went straight for the pony rides.

Rochester Homecoming Parade

Daddy and Grandma Connie were given very explicit directions to get my darlings ready for the homecoming parade. Brad had the pleasure of getting both children up, dressed and ready to go. I couldn't ask for a better daddy for my children. He is amazing! He even drew an orange and blue R on each of Ellie's cheeks and an orange and blue rocket on both of her arms to show our school spirit! It's such an awesome feeling that my children will grow up in the same community where I went to school. Rochester is a great community that I am proud to call HOME!

Unfortunately I had to work and missed out on the parade. I'm just glad Brad's work schedule allows for him to do these things with the kids. Okay so it's not Brad's schedule that allows him to do these things. It's him being a terrific daddy and missing hours and hours of sleep each day to spend time with his kids. We Love You Dad! We are all so lucky to have you!

Chatham's Homecoming Parade

Brad picked the kids up from Nancy's house and met me after work at The Creek for dinner. Next we headed to Kelly's house (Melissa's Sister-in-law) to meet them and walk to the parade route. After our LONG walk we sat and waited for the parade to begin!

My Mom, Dad and I took the kids to a fall festival at the Baptist Church in Rochester. This is the first time I'd ever heard of it. A gentleman was passing out fliers at the park during Hadley's soccer game. He told us that everything at the Fall Festival would be free. It was truly hard to believe, but who could pass up an opportunity like this. Sure enough...everything was free. From food, entertainment, balloon animals, face painting, games etc. You name it...it was FREE! Ellie enjoyed a pony ride...

Auburn

Aunt Kathy and Uncle Bill invited us to their house in Auburn for lunch one Saturday. It was nice to have lunch with Kathy's side of the family as well.

The kids were all dressed so cute that Heather and I tried to take a few pictures in their backyard. A few of the children (including mine) didn't want anything to do with pictures. GO FIGURE!
